Since I figure a few other users on here are anime fans, what shows have you been watching recently/are a fan of?

After I sort of fell out of the loop with Hey Arnold! I became a huge, HUGE fan of Initial D, although I read the manga before finding out about the anime and its amazing soundtrack (seriously, go look up the music). I also used to like Negima a lot but I will admit the fanservice parts make the early chapters a drag and the seriously good parts require reading through all that. Oh, and I got into Azumanga Daioh, which is still really good and set the benchmark for slice of life/comedy.

Lately I have been all about mecha series, I watched some of Gundam Wing during one summer and liked what I saw, then I saw G Gundam and utterly loved it, then I ended up finding out about some of the more under the radar series, mostly from the 80s/90s. Last year I finished watching all of Armored Trooper VOTOMS which was pretty cool and now I'm watching Gundam 0083.

You might want to check out Big O if you like mech shows - I usually don't, but I loved that one (think Gundam meets Batman and that's basically the feel). I'm not as into anime as I used to be, but I LOVE Card Captor Sakura. SO much. I go back every few years and reread the manga and watch the anime. Always holds up. Also Full Metal Alchemist. I haven't seen the Brotherhood version yet, though.

I have seen Big O. Not all of it, but I saw the first episode (the Dorothy 1 fight is awesome) and a few bits of the one episode with the piano playing android.

Oh man, that is always a difficult topic for me, because there are a lot of shows that I like!  At the moment, I'm really into Yowamushi Pedal.  I never thought that a show about bicycles would be interesting, but it really is.  Every race is so intense that you're practically exhausted by the time it's over!  And omg Zeether, you should check out the soundtrack to this show!  I love it so much that I used to listen to it every day on my way to and from work!

I'm also kind of really into Yu-Gi-Oh!  That was probably one of my first big "fandoms" where I actually contributed something rather than being a lurker.  FACT: that's actually where my screen name comes from!  I'm mostly into Duel Monsters and Zexal, but I haven't had a chance to watch the new one.  You should check out the soundtracks to those shows too, especially Zexal!

Other than that, I haven't watched a lot of anime recently.  I watched a ton of it when I was in middle school and high school, but really....I go into phases.  Those phases included: Madoka Magica, mostly anything from CLAMP (I was so happy when you mentioned Cardcaptor Sakura, perhapsormaybe!!), Princess Tutu, Sailor Moon, InuYasha (waaaaaaay back in the day), and more.  Oh, and Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne will always have a special place in my heart (the manga more than the anime).

Sorry, now I'm just rambling.

I used to be really into Yu-Gi-Oh as well. Not enough to do fandoms, really but...I played the card game. A lot of my friends in high school did. I had a harpie deck (primarily cause I loved Mai Valentine). I even did competitions.

I'm wanting to rewatch and finally finish InuYasha, but I'm sort of scared to. Part of why I stopped was because it was so repetitive and it felt like the ending would never happen.

I kind of played the game...but I keep getting frustrated because I would lose to my older brother. lol

I know what you mean with InuYasha. I stopped for the same reason, really. If I were to recommend anything, it would be to watch the Final Arc, since that's the ending and everything. I sort of rewatched my fave episodes and then skipped to the Final Arc.

I'm super picky when it comes to anime. I probably watch about one a year? And it has to be super recommended to me first. I'm probably gonna cave on Osomatsu-san in the near future. Heard it's basically a goofy cartoon with FEELZ?

I highly recommend the FMA manga tho! If you've never read it the manga is literally a perfect narrative. Super satisfying.

Oh man, LeSkuh, I know what you mean about the whole "one anime a year" thing.  That's what I've been doing.  Especially now that my main fandoms are Hey Arnold and Miraculous Ladybug!  I've been hearing a lot of good things about Osomatsu-san!  I might watch that soon too, since most of my Japanese friends who like anime reccomended it!

I super need to watch ML. That's also on my list. I need to convince one of my roomies to get it for me.

I've sort of been on and off on anime too ever since I got back into Hey Arnold!...sometimes I'll watch a couple episodes of something every so often.

Oh yeah, I've watched a card game anime relatively recently called Cardfight!! Vanguard - the guy who wrote the Yu-Gi-Oh! R manga created it I think? I watched the entire first season and it was surprisingly good.

I'm currently very obsessed with Miraculous Ladybug myself, but I highly recommend looking for the French with subtitles. The English cast is kind of meh.

Oh! Ouran High School Host Club! I LOVE that one! And Fruits Basket is also amazing.

I don't think I've watched any newer animes. I've heard about something called "Your Lie in April" that's supposed to be great (I think it's an anime movie, not a full series) but supposedly it's really sad.

Your Lie In April is a series, and I have heard it's pretty sad. I'm generally not one to watch sad anime...although Gundam has a fair share of tragic deaths especially in Victory Gundam and 0080...

Oh, I guess it counts that me and the roomies just watched Paprika and can't wait to watch "Perfect Blue" and "Tokyo Godfathers".

I forgot to mention I got huge into Jojo's Bizarre Adventure a while back. Watched some of the old OVA based on part 3 of the manga, and I'm really happy it's gotten such a big fanbase now (the newer anime series really boosted it) because when I got into it I thought it would never get popular.

Tokyo Godfathers was okay, but I was far more impressed with Paprika and Perfect Blue. Those two are among my absolute favorites in the anime genre.

Interesting fact: Satoshi Kon directed one of the episodes of the old Jojo's Bizarre Adventure OVA. It's the second to last episode and his style is apparently very evident in it. Even though that particular story is arguably covered better in the newer Jojo anime it's pretty interesting.

Okay, so I'm currently watching God Eater, Saiunkoku Monogatari, and FMA: Brotherhood. As for series that are currently airing, I'm (mostly) keeping up with Kabaneri, Boku No Hero Academia, and (*coughs*) Super Lovers.

This year I watched (to completion): Chihayafuru S2 (re-watch), Fullmetal Alchemist 2003 (re-watch), Haikyuu S2, One Punch Man, Noragami S2, Kimi ni Todoke, Lovely Complex, Shingeki no Kyojin, Daiya no Ace S1, Baby Steps S1, and Yowamushi Pedal S1+2.

Yeah. I went on a huge anime (+manga) binge from January to May. I got injured so I had a LOT of free time.

My favorite genre is probably shounen, and I have a special obsession with fondness for sports anime. I also love seinen and josei, though shoujo is pretty awesome, too.

It's been years since I've seen it but I remember enjoying it a lot. I'm a sucker for sports anime, though. If you're into racing anime you should check out Capeta (karting). It's really great. And while less realistic, Yowamushi Pedal (bicycling) is a hoot to watch.

I spent an entire summer a few years back binging on mecha anime (Gundam 00/Wing/SEED/SEED Destiny, RahXephon, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Code Geass, Eureka 7, Soukyuu no Fafner, Heroic Age, Guyver, Full Metal Panic, etc.)

Gundam SEED has always been my favorite series (haven't seen G Gundam yet--I'll check it out!) I want to re-watch NGE sometime this summer, though, and maybe pick up Gurren Lagann.

So many anime, so little time.

I've heard of both, the AE86 from Initial D makes a cameo at one point in the Capeta anime. The manga seems cool too.

G Gundam is amazing. It gets really ridiculous later on and that's part of its charm, it takes Gundam and adds the "Super Robot" feel to it (as opposed to the usual "Real Robot" theme, real robots are Gundam, Eva, Geass etc while super robots are stuff like Big O, Mazinger Z, Getter Robo)

Also if you want to see a bunch of anime robots in one place you should check out the Super Robot Wars games. Some of them got fan translated, and Gundam SEED is featured in Super Robot Wars J, which is one of the translated ones. There's an upcoming SRW game called Super Robot Wars V that is getting an official translation too and I'm pretty stoked because Brave Express Might Gaine (a series with trains that turn into robots that's part of Sunrise's "Brave" franchise) is one of the new series in it.

Actually while I'm on the subject of the Brave series, the last entry in that is GaoGaiGar which is a must watch mecha series. There's a TV series and a set of OVAs called GaoGaiGar FINAL, I'm on the TV series and while it's a lot of monster of the week stuff it gets really good and it's full of lots of over the top shouting and awesome attacks, plus the main mech forms from a robot lion (which the main character Gai combines with by having it basically EAT HIM) fusing with a stealth fighter, drill tank and a bullet train! If you like Gurren Lagann when you get around to watching it, you'll like this too. And the main theme is just as hot blooded as the show:

(fair warning, lots of flashing at one point in that video, the villains' lair has strobe lights on for god knows what reason)

I could talk forever on mecha stuff, like I mentioned before VOTOMS is super cool and I've gained a fondness for some of the older, really obscure Sunrise series as a result...I got into stuff like Xabungle, VIFAM, and Layzner but I haven't watched much of them recently.
